The weekend that was: dive reports for 18 and 19 February
It was one of those beautiful Cape Town summer weekends - quite warm, but with just enough of a breeze to make it bearable. Seas were moderately flat as well, and Sunday, with its lack of wind, resulted in a mirror-smooth surface.
The club dive was led by Mike Ceruti, and, if I counted correctly, 9 people joined him (don't worry, Mike kept a roster of who jumped in and who came out - and he might have lost some people underwater, but all returned safely!)
As I didn't dive I decided to take some pics, and from my vantage point on the rocks above the sea, it looked rather clean and clear - see the pic below. Unfortunately further out and deeper it wasn't that great - with hazy visibility of a few meters. The aim of the dive was to find the Huis te Kraaijesteen (I never remember how it is spelled correctly), and it was indeed found - well, what remains: a few beams, a few cannons and a few anchors. Due to the visibility Mike lost some of the people following him (can't really blame him - the wreck lies in a bouldery area with lots of kelp - impossible to see far behind you even in good vis!), but the budies stayed in their teams, so no harm was done.
With this I'd also like to welcome those who dived with the club the first time - we hope to see you every weekend!
