In 1994, about 10 to 12 then "clubless" divers, whose diving senses had been aroused by the magnificent Wildside reefs and fish life, visited what they thought then to be the "unapproachable" Noordhoek Ski Boat Club (NSBC). What a pleasant surprise, they were invited to visit the clubhouse and were immediately welcomed and made to feel at home. As new members of the Noordhoek Ski Boat Club, the "clubless" had found a base to launch and to operate from. Contrary to expectations the bond between fishermen and divers grew strong and many of the dive sites were given to them by the fishermen in exchange for a retrieved anchor.

OMSAC is affiliated to OMSC (Old Mutual Sports Club) and as such our premises are located at the Old Mutual head office in Pinelands, Cape Town. We are an enthusiastic and very sociable group of scuba divers. Most of our diving is done on the weekends around the Cape Peninsula by means of both shore entries and boat diving. The club has its own compressor and our qualified compressor operators are available every Thursday night to fill cylinders (air fills are free to all club members). The club also has a range of scuba gear for rent at extremely affordable prices. Our PADI and CMAS instructor can provide a wide range of certified courses on request. Our relationship with the local dive shops and other local clubs ensure we have access to all PADI, CMAS, NAUI and IANTD certified courses. Scuba diving is a popular, exciting and growing sport. "D U C", as its familiarly known, is a family orientated, social activities club for people that have an interest in the ocean and it's beaches. The club offers activities such as scuba diving, spearfishing, underwater hockey, underwater photography, boating and surf ski.
The club is situated on the beach in Durban at Vetch's Pier, between Ushaka Marine World and the northern harbour breakwater. The facilities at the club include the following:
